Filling

Filling;

Fill; Water cooling tower fill is located above the air inlet louvers and under the water distribution system. Depending on the degree of pollution of the operating water, splash grid and ring type filler made of PP or film type filler made of PVC are used. Water is uniformly rained on the filler. Thus, water droplets evaporate easily by continuously splashing or floating on the filling. The fill is designed and installed in such a way that the optimum wet surface is provided for high efficiency.

The table below gives information about the fillings used according to the quality of the operating water.

Filling Types

Splash Grid Fill
Splash grids made of PP are designed and assembled in such a way as to ensure that the water is seperated in to particles by continuous splashing between the filling layers that are sprinkled uniformly. This ensures that the evaporation surface is formed on the splashed water particles. It does not deform even at high temperatures. (It can operate at temperatures of approximately 80°C in continuous operation and approximately 90°C in short-term operation.)

It can be used easily in places where the amount of suspended solids (ppm) is very high (unlimited pollution). Since there will be no clogging and accumulation in time, it does not cause destruction by creating a pollution load in the tower.

They are hung on the FRP construction inside the tower by means of easily demountable and attachable handles specially made of PP material and carrier hangers made of stainless wires. After the initially created (first row) fill platform was hung on the studs, the 2nd row fills were hung staggered compared to the 1st row fills.

All fillings are staggered between adjacent floors and hung on the straps. Thus, it’s ensured that the water is continuously broken down during its journey from the nozzle to the cold water basin.
Splash Rings Filling
It is an innovation brought by Yolyapı. PP splash rings fill is preferred in high temperatures (about 80°C in short-term operation) and polluted waters.

It benefits from the ease of cleaning for reuse. With its re-use feature, the operating cost is cheap.
PVC Film Fill
PVC Film fill, on the other hand, is preferred where the operating water is cleaner (free from dust and pollution), in processes where the water is controlled and the water feeded is constantly softened.

Towers with inlet water up to 55°C benefit from its good performance due to its larger wet surface. If it is used in dirty lime water, it is not possible to clean it. It is manufactured in 3 different types, with fill plate spacings of 12, 19 and 27 mm.
